Linda Phillips has been turning clay for over 8 years. She is the owner of Something Earthy
beauty surrounding her studio, Linda's pieces reflect the natural and soothing elements found
in the farmland and serene settings of Laytonsville.

Linda offers pottery classes in her studio.  She teaches to small group of both adults and
children.  In her "off time", she perfects her own pottery while trying new techniques and styles.
She also runs her own shop, which is open on the weekends, and sells not only her pottery
but watercolors, pictures, jewelry and other clay work from local artists.

Linda has 2 children of her own.  They also attend the summer programs and were part of the
inspiration for offering the programs.

Donna Weeks, the owner of Old Sage Farm, is also a master herbalist.  She offers classes in
mosaics, jewelry, pressed flowers, bath products and much more.  Donna has been teaching art
and craft classes for over 20 years for Montgomery County and 10 years for Howard County.
She teaches for both the recreation departments and senior centers.  She also offers classes at
her home in Laytonsville.

Donna teaches classes to adults, children and sometimes to grandparents with their
grandchildren.  She also offers her crafts for sale.  She has jewelry parties throughout the year
and a spring herb festival and fall holiday show.  She also offers teas at her home.  She gives
lectures on tea topics, women's health and much more!

Donna has 2 grown children.  She decided to start the summer programs to keep her busy all
year!

Amy Gunn, Donna's daughter, works for Prince Georges County Fire Department as a
firefighter/paramedic.  She teaches CPR and First Aid during the year.  She also assists with
many classes that her mother teaches including the mosaics, jewelry, pressed flower and bath
products classes.  She helps at the festivals and holiday show and makes items to sell at both.
She also enjoys helping with the summer program.

All of our program counselors are trained in CPR and First Aid.  Some of our counselors are
former participants that are too old for the program now.  Others are from art and craft or
pottery classes.  All of our counselors are "crafty" themselves.

Our program has been very successful.  We have grown each year -- by leaps and bounds!
Most of participants (that aren't too old) return to the program every year and enjoy it more
and more!  We are proud of our participants and love to see what they create!
