| Just For You... Saturday, March 20, 2010 9:30am - 3:30pm Cost: $55.00 for the whole day $35.00 for a half day Join us all day or for the morning or afternoon session. Either way, you can make a wonderful project, enjoy lunch and tea. Please email Amy at amy@oldsagefarm.com or call Donna at 301-774-3510 to register. Please include your class choice. Morning session: 9:30am - lunch (choose one project) Mokume Gane with Amy: In case you haven't done this before, it is an incredible technique to learn. You'll work with polymer clay, gold or silver leaf, stamps, paints and more to create this updated version of an ancient Japanese technique. You'll be slicing, dicing, chopping and stamping your way to your unique creations. These pieces can be used for pins, pendants, or whatever you like. Polymer clay never looked as good as this before. Altered Art, Too (or is it II??) with Linda: Watch out -- Linda's back and she's got some new ideas for you on how to make altered art. You can make a bowl, a picture frame, some mini art work, or jewelry pieces -- whatever you want. You'll be working with photos, (bring some of your own if you want; copies, please...), stamps, paint, gel, glue, ribbon, "jewels" and more to create your many, many works of art. This class was so much fun last time, we had to drag the ladies away to eat their lunch! This time you can do one session, or stay all day! A Bundle of Teardrops with Donna: Well, that sounds depressing doesn't it? But this necklace is anything but depressing. We'll be working with lots of teardrop shaped beads on 4 strands of beading wire, and adding a large silver spacer between the sections. After we make our focal piece, we'll add chain and a clasp to finish it off. You really have to see it to appreciate it, but we're sure you'll love the results. Afternoon session -- 12pm - 3:30pm (choose one project) Mokume Gane/Wrap it Up with Donna: Now that you have all those pieces of artwork, what are you going to do with them? We'll show you how to wrap them so they can be worn as a pin, pendant or maybe link them together for a bracelet or make them into earrings. You'll learn how to do some wire weaving, braiding and more to finish off your Mokume pieces. NOTE: You can also learn to wrap large beads, marbles, or focal pieces. Right Angle with a Twist with Amy: Right angle weave is usually done with a needle and thread, but that can be tedious and not nearly as quick as this method. Once you learn the basic concept of right angle you will appreciate how you can change the look by simply changing the size and shape of your beads. You'll have two choices to select from -- silver beads with a turquoise focal bead, or silver beads and your choice of glass pearls in a slightly different pattern. You may have time to complete both bracelets. Please note -- these are merely examples. Your project may use different beads and/or wire. Please register early! |
